The Magnolia Village

Beautification
Project

In 2019, the Reimagine Magnolia Village project asked residents and local businesses to imagine Magnolia Village with more comfortable seating, gorgeous flowering hanging baskets, festive seasonal banners and wreaths, and landscape and sidewalk maintenance that keep our Magnolia trees more resilient and thriving forever.

This image is now a reality due to the completion of the Reimagine Magnolia Village Beautification Project in 2024.

The project and its forever maintenance are overseen and managed by the volunteer Magnolia Beautification Committee, which is part of the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce.

The project’s five distinct phases include most of the streetscapes of Magnolia Village.

The city of Seattle reviewed, approved, and permitted the project’s plans and implementation. Private donations helped complete all five phases. Ongoing fundraising through the Magnolia Village Beautification Forever Fund ensures maintenance of the streetscape improvements now and in the future. Funding for the project included generous support from the Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) grants awarded by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.

A Beautiful Magnolia Village – a jewel of a neighborhood

Magnolia is an active, family-oriented community attracting residents of all ages. Ongoing maintenance will enhance the “Village’s” main streets and improve the attractiveness and safety of the streetscapes in the core of the Village. The results improve the day to day shopping, dining, and pedestrian experiences for residents and visitors and those who enjoy the Farmer’s Market, Classic Auto Show, Magnolia Summerfest, Vino in the Village, Halloween, Winterfest, and many other community functions.

Your support for maintaining our streetscape improvements will make Magnolia look better while enhancing livability, sustainability, and commerce. Importantly, maintaining Magnolia Village beautification forever is the long-term strategy to enhance the character of the Village for decades to come. City of Seattle Engagement and Involvement – permitting and matching grant support

Since the launch of the Reimagine Magnolia Beautification Project in 2019, the MBC has worked side-by-side with the city of Seattle to establish a credible community development presence. The MBC developed trust and confidence with various permitting and grant funding departments and fosters long-term engagement between the city, local merchants, and neighborhood stakeholders. The MBC reaches out on a regular basis to city officials and public agencies for input, advice, and counsel regarding best practices for streetscape improvements.

Magnolia Village Beautification Forever Fund – let’s maintain what we built together!

The support for the Magnolia Beautification Project has been overwhelmingly positive. Gifts ranged from $10 in cash to two anonymous donors, each giving $25,000, to donation amounts in between. Due to the quick generosity of neighbors and our local merchants, we raised over $700,000 in donations and city grants and completed the project in 2023.

Donations are now being sought through the Magnolia Village Beautification Forever Fund.
